Marshall has definitely learned how to ham it up for the camera...

I love spring in Texas. It's my favorite time of year. I always get so excited when our azaleas bloom, especially since I have yet to learn to care for them. Just imagine what they'd look like if we pruned and fed them properly.

Poor kid. 

I hope I am not the only mom who grabs her camera when her kid gets stuck and cries for help...

See, he's fine. 

No lasting trauma from me documenting his misery.

 

 Paul and Molly played hookie from work and school one day and we all spent a gorgeous spring day at the zoo.

Marshall enjoyed his first visit, especially the train ride!

Crabbin'

 

Paul and his dad took Molly for her first crabbin' adventure in Anahuac. 

 Molly always loves being outdoors and learning new things from her daddy and PawPaw.

 She even made a new friend and had someone to play around with while the guys pulled in the big catch of the day...

 

Look at the center of this picture... see that little bump in the water?

It's an alligator who got really interested in the chicken parts they were using to catch crabs. 

 Boys being boys, it became a challenge to see how close they could draw in the alligator. They were able to pull him along with the string and get him really, really close. Freaks me the heck out, but Molly told me it was "awesome." 

Paul thinks he should be on Swamp People, cuz he's an expert on gator huntin' now.

 Thanks to their crabbin' efforts we enjoyed a crab boil at home the next day.

Whenever I go in to check on Marshall he is always asleep all crammed up at the end of his crib. 

I guess he likes feeling all snugged up with the bumper.

 

 Those little legs have no where to go when you sleep sideways!

Petting Zoo

Every year the preschool brings in a petting zoo for the kids.
Marshall had a blast petting and hugging all of the animals, but these are the pictures I wanted to share:

Not sure what was going through his head, but Marshall spent quite a bit of time showing his belly to the animals. Maybe he thought they were there to gawk at him and see his tricks.

Cali Girls

In February Molly and I flew out to California to visit Katie and surprise Nicole at her baby shower.

Molly was an awesome travel companion and we had a really fun trip!

Katie took us to breakfast in Crystal Cove at a restaurant with the most gorgeous viewKatie had fun teaching Molly how to play MarioKartWe visited Katie and Mike's boat on our way to Ventura to surprise Nicole.

Once we got on the road the weather turned awful. California drivers really have no clue how to drive in the rain and we spent an extra 2-3 hours trying to get to Ventura. The 20 plus pages of google map print outs couldn't even help us navigate our way through the confusing roads of Santa Barbara in the rain!

Molly was a trouper through it all and kept herself occupied on the long drive!We got to see a faint rainbow once the storms let upWe finally made it to Ventura much later than we had planned. Unfortunately we missed meeting everyone at dinner where we were going to surprise Nicole.
When we got to the house, Nicole, Tia Loula and Jon still surprised me with a gorgeous and delicious Bread Basket cake!That night Molly had a sleep over with Rylee and the next morning Nicole took them for donuts when Molly got up bright and early - she was on Texas time after all!
The girls got to have a slumber party in our hotel room after we took them to see Gnomeo and Juliette
They had a lot of fun goofing around and acting crazy!

On our last full day in California we were sad to say goodbye to Katie, but spent the afternoon with Nicole, Jon and Rylee before watching sunset on the beach.

At the beach we found a cute little park with an awesome zip-line. Later we had a yummy seafood dinner and ice cream at the marina with the McDaniels before heading back to Houston the next morning.Molly and I can't wait to go back! We had so much fun!!!
